Shepherds have been excellent in both the sale and purchase of our property. David in particular went above and beyond in ensuring that everything went smoothly for all parties and was very responsive in his communication. We found it very supportive through what can be a stressful process.

We can’t thank the team at Shepherds enough, We sold and bought through them and they were always available to help and answer questions, nothing was ever too much. The speed at which they got our house on the market was fantastic and the quality of the pictures outstanding. Would thoroughly recommend them.

Couldn’t fault the service from Shepherds, particularly from David. Always received prompt and helpful responses throughout the whole process, and felt they genuinely cared about you receiving a good service. Would definitely recommend them and use them in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a property through Shepherds, and I can honestly say it was a genuinely positive experience. The entire team were excellent, particularly Mike and David, who were supportive and professional throughout.
Buying a house in Hertford can be incredibly stressful, and the last thing you need is a duplicative or unreliable agent in such a competitive market. Shepherds, however, demonstrated integrity and honesty at every stage of the process, which made a significant difference.
I was kept fully informed throughout, often even outside of normal working hours, which gave me real clarity and confidence. Their communication was consistent and reassuring from start to finish.
It’s also clear that the team has a strong understanding of the Hertford market. There are no gimmicks or inflated pricing strategies—just realistic valuations and a straightforward approach. Unlike some agents, they don’t overprice properties only to reduce them a few weeks later.
Seriously well done to David and the wider team—there’s a clear reason you’ve been so well established in such a competitive market.
Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Shepherds to anyone looking to buy or sell in the area.

From start to finish the level of communication with David and Michael was excellent. I felt that they genuinely cared about the process and by that I mean that they honestly managed expectations from the outset, they were not pushy with viewers and gave time to consider before following up after viewings.
This team just felt like the right fit to sell our home.

Shepherds certainly do their utmost to support the seller that appointed them. Sadly, as the buyer in this case, I was harried and pressed constantly in a way that was incredibly stressful, for things that were completely out of my hands in terms of delays by the underwriters for my mortgage. Admittedly it did take a long time from offer accepted to being ready to exchange, but in the scheme of things it wasn't a long time compared to people that are in a chain etc. I frequently updated Shepherds on progress and where we were in the process, but received nothing but pressure, which increased day by day.

Thank you for your review. However, it is somewhat disheartening that the aspect you are most critical of was, in reality, likely integral to the overall success of the transaction, not least your own purchase.
As you rightly state, our primary responsibility is to act in our client’s best interests. In this case, that included meeting the strict timescales associated with their onward new-build purchase, where any delay posed a genuine risk to the transaction as a whole.
The level of communication you experienced was proportionate to the circumstances. The extended delays relating to your mortgage underwriting required consistent and proactive engagement to ensure the matter progressed and did not fall through. Our approach was therefore necessary, not excessive.
We appreciate the updates you provided, which contributed to reaching exchange.
While we recognise the process may have felt pressured, the transaction was ultimately concluded successfully, supported by consistent communication and coordination throughout.

Peter was a pleasure to work with as a first time buyer. Professional throughout, easy to communicate with and forthcoming with advice along the way. I would be happy to use Shepherds again.
